Tehran – Shomal Freewy Project
Operation Details:
This 124 KM freeway goes north from Tehran with two lanes on each side (north- south) three lanes when required, designed in four parcels. Parcel #4 from DashtNazir (T ) crossing to Chaloos is already in use. Parcels #2 & #3 are being prepared for contracts. Finally Parcel #1 from northern end of Tehran to Sharestanak DoAb about 32 KM.
Specifications:
A- Maximum longitudinal slope 6%, Minimum curve radius 400 M and average traffic speed of 80 KM per hour.
B- Total of 146 tunnels (north- south), approximately 88 KM. Taloon (4900 M) and Alborz (6400 M) are the longest.
D- Total of 81 bridges (north- south), approximately 11 KM.
E- Estimated 40 Million cubic meters of excavations, large sections already done.
F- Passenger rest areas planned through the route.
G- 67 KM total shortening of the route and almost three hour drive- time savings.
